This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Anninston Army Depot, Alabama. This position serves as Materials Handler Supervisor Supervising field crews involved in storage operations such as shipping, receiving, and rewarehousing various ammunition and components with the different aspects involved for each and with various support activities assisting which are very dissimilar and unrelated.

Duties

Help
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Apply technical knowledge of ammo compatibility and load limits to ensure safe, accurate handling and transport.
  • Interpret shipping orders to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Identify and classify hazardous materials to ensure proper storage and handling.
  • Handle ammunition and equipment carefully to prevent damage and ensure personal safety.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid state driver's license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete and pass the annual Medical Examination administered by the Anniston Army Depot.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a restricted area badge.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully meet and maintain the requirements of the Physical Security of Arms, Ammunitions and Explosives IAW AR 190-11.
  • Occasional Travel may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements of AMC-R 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • Civilian personnel of the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler Supervisor without more than normal supervision: planning and coordinating material handling operations, works with team members to ensure explosives and/or ammunition are handled in accordance with regulations, ensure that needed materials are available for team members to complete required assignments - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Explosive and industrial hazards are a constant threat in performing the duties of this job. Incumbent must possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operators License and be eligible for Government Vehicle Operations Permit. The incumbent is required to drive a radio-equipped pickup truck several miles each day regardless of weather conditions, and also, walk to magazines and storehouses where there are no accessible roads, to visit crews. The incumbent must be able to fulfill his/her obligation to their subordinates as well as to his/her supervisors. Responsible for keeping the crews working and moving from job to job. This Division is responsible for handling and loading of materials for shipment, unloading and stowing materials, and issuing material for Production. Mental alertness is a necessity since the incumbent is required to make on-the-spot decisions which will have an effect on the work of the crew.
  • Working conditions are hazardous and disagreeable. The possibility of an explosion is always imminent.
